Question: How old do i have to be to play bocce ball?

It seems like there is a minimum age requirement to play this game, as I only see old folks playing it. Is it true you are not allowed to play in the United States unless you are 68 1/2 years old? I don't feel like waiting any longer to play, what is the penalty for getting caught playing if you are under age? I have snuck in a few night games in my alley before, but there were a few close calls with the cops. Will I be arrested for this?
